'Adaminte Makan Abu' to be released in Kerala on June 17

Kannur, Kerala, May 27: National award winning film 'Adaminte Makan Abu' will be released in Kerala on June 17, its director Salim Ahammad said.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said previews of the film, which bagged National award (Swarna Kamal) and State award for best feature film, would he held at Chennai, Ernakulam and Kannur.

He said the he got an offer from Mumbai for remaking his film into Hindi from the 'Mega productions.' He said he was confident that it was a realistic and commercial cinema.

He said the script of the film was received from his own experiance from a travel agency at Kozhikode while working in a flight company for the Haj pilgrims.

'Adaminte Makan Abu' wins top honours at Kerala state awards

At the 58th National awards "Adaminte Makan Abu" won the best film, actor, music direction and photography awards.

Acclaimed Bengali filmmaker Buddadev Dasgupta, the chairperson for this year's jury, said the performance of Salim Kumar, who won the best actor award, was simply superb.

"Words just cannot describe to explain the performance of Salim Kumar. Believe me, I was so surprised to see some other films of this actor and in this film he has done a great job," Dasgupta said.

"This is the second time I am heading the jury here and I was really taken aback by the numerous excellent films made by debutants," added Dasgupta.

Salim Kumar said: "I am extremely delighted that I have won the national and the state film award for best actor for this role."

Popular actress Kavya Madhavan was named the best actress for film "Gatama".

"This should be seen as an award for the entire film unit," said Kavya.

Other awards announced were best director Shyamaprasad for "Electra", second best actor Biju Menon ("T.P. Dasan Std 6 B"), second best actress Mamta Mohandas ("Katha Thudaram"), best comedian Swaraj Venjaramoodu ("Oru Nallu Varum"), best photographer S.Jalal ("Chithrsoothrem") and M.J.Radhakrishnan ("Veetileke Ulla Vazhi").

Superstar Mammootty's "Pranchiettan and the Saint" was declared as the most popular film.

Dasgupta complemented the state government for providing subsidies for film production.

"The procedure of providing financial assistance is a great boon for young and debutant film makers and if a helping hand is provided in screening of such films it will help many new comers," said Gupta.

'Adaminte Makan Abu' adjudged best film

Thiruvananthapuram, May 22 : 'Adaminte Makan Abu' which kept the pride of Kerala high during the national awards under various categories has been adjudged the 'best film' as the Kerala State Film Awards were announced by State Minister K B Ganesh Kumar, here.

While Salim Kumar bagged the award for the 'best actor' for his stunning performance in the film, Kavya Madhavan got the best actress award for her performance in 'Gaddama,' Minister In-Charge of Cinema Mr Ganesh Kumar announced here at a press conference.

Shyama Prasad won the best director award for the film ?Electra?.

Biju Menon has been selected as the second best actor in his performance in 'T D Dasan Standard 6-B' and Mamta Mohandas was selected as the second best actress for her performance in 'Kadha Thudarunnu.' Suraj Venjaramoodu bagged the best comedian award. 'Makara Manju' by Lenin Rajendran was adjudged the second best film.

Film 'Pranchiyettan and the Saint has been selected as the best popular movie.

M Jayachandran became the best musical director for Karayileku oru Kadal Dooram. Hariharan bagged the best male singer award while Rajalakshmi got the best female singer award.

'Adaminte Makan Abu' wins top honours at Kerala state awards

Malayalam film "Adaminte Makan Abu", which got four National Awards last week, won four Kerala state film awards including for the best film and best actor.

The film was also named for the best script and best music direction, Minister in-charge of Films K.B. Ganesh Kumar announced here Sunday.

At the 58th National awards "Adaminte Makan Abu" won the best film, actor, music direction and photography awards.
