''However, a final word can be said only after the monsoon sets in over the Arabian Sea. The IMD examines several parameters including the minimum temperature over north-west India, pre-monsoon rainfall and zonal winds over the Indian Ocean to make its predictions,'' sources in the Department said.
The prediction of a near-normal monsoon was good news for farmers who were still dependent on the grace of the rain god, they said.
