Second accused in sensational Sheela murder case found guilty

Palakkad, May 20: A local court today pronounced as guilty the second accused Kanakaraj in the sensational Puthur Sheela murder case in Palakkad district of Kerala.

The Palakkad Additional District and Sessions Court, however, acquitted Manikandan, the third accused in the murder case.

The quantum of punishment for Kanakaraj would be announced tomorrow, the Court said.

Kanakaraj was found guilty on various charges, including murder, robbery and attempt to murder.

Sheela, wife of a businessman, was killed in 2010 at her house at Puthur. Her mother Karthiyayini was also attacked by a three member gang.

Three people have been accused in the case. Sampath, the first accused died in police custody. This custodial death is currently being investigated by the CBI.
