THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A vigilance court here on Monday gave the go-ahead for futher probe into the palmolein import case in which former CVC PJ Thomas is one of the accused.
Inquiry Commissioner and Special Judge S Jagadees directed that "the investigation shall be completed and supplementary final report shall be submitted within a period of three months".
Coming a month ahead of the assembly polls, the order assumes political significance as the prosecution had sought sanction for the probe hinting at the alleged role of the then finance minister Oommen Chandy. In its petition, the prosecution referred to a 2005 press conference held by Chandy wherein he reportedly admitted know-ledge of the oil import.
