Kollam, Kerala, May 21 : Kollam Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), Santhosh M Nair, who was allegedly involved in the attack on Mathrubhumi reporter V B Unnithan was today remanded to custody till June 4.The DySp was remanded to custody by the Sasthamcottah First class Judicial Magistrate Court, according to police sources here.
The police official was earlier taken into custody by the Crime Branch.
He was taken into custody following the arrest of 'Container' Santhosh, another main accused in the case.
The Mathrubhumi Reporter was attacked by a gang of criminals at Sasthamcottah, near here, on April 16.
He was suspected to have been targetted for filing a story which was carried in the newspaper about some police officers attending a party thrown by a liquor contractor at Government Guest house last year.
The attack was allegedly conspired by the official, who was the then Circle Inspector and was said to be among those who enjoyed the hospitality of the contractor.
