Kannur, Jun 24 : Kerala Congress Chairman P C Thomas today urged the Centre to rectify its petroleum policy as it helped only corporates like Reliance. This was detrimental to the interest of the people as it led to hike in the price of essential commodities, he alleged.
Kerala Congress, an ally of opposition LDF front in the state, demanded a CBI inquiry into charge of corruption, including the Reliance exploration of oil. Mr Thomas alleged that this was bigger than the 2G spectrum scam.
The UDF-led government was allowing real estate business to Smart City project, by giving permission to the 50 per cent of land utilisation. This policy has resulted in great loss to Kerala, Mr Thomas stated.
The Kerala Congress also demanded the Centre to amend the Wildlife Act as otherwise, the killing of wild animals would not be punishable under the Central act. The Centre and the state governments should protect the wild animals along with agricultural crops, he added.
