Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 25 : The Opposition Left parties and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today staged demonstrations across Kerala in protest against the hike in the prices of cooking gas and diesel.Meanwhile, the private bus operators threatened to organise a one-day strike on June 29.
A report from Kannur said activists of the DYFI, the youth wing of CPI (M), blocked a passenger train at Kannur.
Activists of the Left parties and BJP took out marches in Thiruvananthapuram and other districts against the price hike of diesel and cooking gas.
Private bus Operators Co-ordination Committee said they would suspend all operations on June 29 demanding immediate fare hike in view of the diesel price increase. They said if their demands were not met, they would intensify their agitation.
