CPI(M) demands rollback of hike of fuel prices

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 25 : Coming down heavily on the Centre for hiking the fuel price, the CPI(M) in Kerala today demanded an immediate rollback of the hike.

In a statement here, the party said the hike of price of diesel and cooking gas was ''another cruel blow'' to the common people.

It said the recent hike of diesel and cooking gas was just after another hike pf petrol prices last month. The Centre had raised the price immediately after the assembly polls, the CPI(M) said and added it was a great blow to the common man who was already reeling under price hike.

The increase of diesel price would raise the cost of transportation and affect the fisher folk and farmers.

The CPI(M) said the Centre was only trying to benefit oil marketing companies at the cost of the common man.
