Truck operators stir hits movement of goods

Kozhikode, May 27:Movement of goods from Kozhikode in Kerala to the neighbouring states was disrupted today following a flash strike by lorry owners.

They were protesting against burning of four trucks at the Corporation lorry stand this morning.

Kerala Lorry Owners Federation leader K K Hamza said one lorry was completely gutted and three others partially when miscreants set fire to them.

Stating that a complaint was lodged with the police on the issue, he said the Federation proposed to submit a representation to District Collector and Commissioner of Police demanding immediate action.

The lorry owners warned that they would intensify the stir if no action was forthcoming, he said.
