South West Monsoon active in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, May 30: The South West Monsoon that set in over Kerala yesterday has been active with rains occurring at many places in Kerala and at most places in Lakshadweep.

The Local Met office said isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur in Kerala and isolated heavy rainfall in Lakshadweep during the next 48 hours.

It also warned of wind with a speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph likely along and off Kerala Coast and over Lakshadweep area during the next 24 hours.

Cherthala recorded the highest rainfall of 13 cm, which was followed by Kollam with nine cm.

Mancompu and Kayamkulam got seven cm each, the Met Office said and added Aluva, Piravom and Vaikom recorded six cm of rainfall each.

Punalur and Kanjirappally got five cm of rains each. While Thiruvalla got four cm of rainfall, Agathi, Alappuzha, Kochi Air Port, and Chengannur got three cm of rains each.
