Ban on endosulfan being undermined

Kannur, Jun 10: Senior Congress leader V M Sudheeran today alleged that some bureaucrats in the Union Agriculture ministry were trying to undermine the ban of endosulfan pesticide at national level.

Mr Sudheeran alleged the policies of the agriculture ministry was totally wrong as they were waiting for the after afects of use of Endosulfan use in other states in the country and were not botherd about the victims in Kerala.

He said this while inaugurating the commeration day of P Jayaseelan, former Mathysa Thozhilali Congress state President P Jayaseelan here.

Eventhough Supreme Court had ordered a national ban of endosulfan, the agriculture ministry was not ready to change its attitude, he said.

Mr Sudheeran hoped that the state government would take necessary action to rehabilitate the victims of Kasargod district.

To a question, Mr Sudheeran said the re-constitution of Kerala Pradesh Congres Committee would be completed before August.
