UDF must implement our schemes; LDF

Kannur, May 19: The CPI(M) today warned the United Democratic Front(UDF) government of serius consequences if they tried to scrap the welfare measures implemented by the Left Democratic Front(LDF) government.

CPI(M) state Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan stated this while laying the foundation stone for the proposed E K Nayanar Memorial Academy being developed by the CPI(M) in Kannur district.

Stating that the CPI(M) had not taken any action that could have hurt any religious organisation, he said some organisations, including Nair Service Society (NSS) had taken a different attitude towards the LDF government.

Mr Pinarayi asked these organisations to re-evaluate their attitude and action.

He also said the delimitation process was one of the reasons for the LDF's defeat, especailly in Kannur district. The party was examining the reasons for the loss, he added.

CPI(M) politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, who was also present alleged that the UDF government had not implemented the rs 1 a kg rice scheme, which it had highligted in the election manifesto during its previous tenure.
