Salimkumar: a journey from mimicry to national award

Kochi, May 19 : The journey from mimicry to celluloid was not at all a smooth passage to Malayalam film actor Salimkumar, who won the national award for best actor for his role in ''Adaminte Makan Abdu'', pushing behind all leading actors in the country.

It was his hard work and dedication to the art earned his the award.

Starting his career as a mimicry artist, Saleemkumar entered the film industry as a comedian and acted more than 100 films, during his 14-year-long career.

He had won the state award for second best actor award in 2005 for his maiden leading role in ''Achanurangatha veedu'' directed by Lal Jose, who had the dare to cast the comedian into the title role of the film.
